Quick Introduction

Alex Hoffer has been playing music in the Midwest for the past six years and has been building a loyal following since doing so. Coming from the city of Joliet, IL and spending more than a few years in Chicago, Alex has been influenced by all kinds of music. You might call it Progressive Rock but, it's easy to pick out the Funk, Blues, Pop and Americana in his songs as well. With or without the band, the music is rhythmically driven and gritty. Alex is currently finishing his first full length, studio record, with his band and has recorded two EP's (Free From Apathy - 2015 & Alive & Well in Prison City - 2016) and two acoustic CD's (Alex Hoffer Acoustic - 2009 & In Your House - 2015). Alex is one of the hardest working Singer/Songwriters you're ever bound to find. The end of 2015 marked his first year topping 200+ shows. An accomplishment that speaks to his work ethic as well as his talent. In 2017 he surpassed 240 shows and he's not looking to slow down.

Wendy Greenslade - "Then Alex, moving everyone with his soulful voice and his unique style of guitar picking left me amazed. I also have never seen such a beg from the crowd for more as the night came to a close. The venue had no choice but to let them play more."

THE VILLAGE VIEW, Entertainment: By Kelly White

As a bluesy rock ‘n roll musician with a husky voice and an acoustic guitar, Alex Hoffer is definitely making his way in the music industry. Paved by hard work and dedication, Alex has been a full-time musician in the Chicagoland area for over six years, and in that time he has been building a loyal following around the Midwest. From the city of Chicago and the suburbs that contain it, to Milwaukee to Ann Arbor to San Diego and almost everywhere in between, Alex has found his way to many places in this country with a guitar in hand, voice in mind, loving every moment of the journey. Alex performs as a solo artist or with his band, Alex Hoffer & Friends, to which he states,

“Personally, I think we sound like a combination of Ray LaMontagne, Dave Matthews Band, Phish and Paul Simon. And if those acts had a jam-band baby, you’d have us.”

Alex has been personally playing music for the past ten years, writing his own songs and finding people to play with along the way.

“I was influenced a lot by Classical music growing up,” he said, “The lyrical portion of songwriting came later for me. My Mom loved Paul Simon and I too grew to find his styling quite amazing."

Aside from a performance on Windy City Live in December of 2012, where he played his original track, "Standby", Alex has played at Chicago Street Pub in downtown Joliet, The Tonic Room, The Store, The Double Door and The Abbey Pub in Chicago, Summer Camp Music Festival and both Chicagoland and Michigan International Speedways among many other locations. On the southside, Alex has visited 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park and Lucky’s Lounge in Chicago Ridge. Alex will be playing at Mojoe’s, 22 W. Cass Street, on Saturday, Jan. 25th with his band when they open for Bob Marley's former band, The Wailers.
